This class is for those who are new to Yoga or the Iyengar method. The focus is on standing poses, arm work and seated poses. Forward bending, twisting and backbending is introduced. Students are introduced to their bodies and taught how to relax deeply.
Amy, the instructor, has been a practitioner of Iyengar yoga since 2009 when she began studying this tradition at JPY with Dale Hails and has studied other traditions as well, practicing under Tina Stroh’s guidance for 15 years to the present. Amy feels blessed to continue studying with senior Iyengar teachers completing a 4 module course (200 hours) offered through a grant at the Casey Health Institute outside Washington, D.C., and at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India in December 2016. Through Iyengar yoga, she discovered a deep appreciation for the principles of alignment. Amy continues to study with senior teachers Dean Lerner and Holly Walck Kostura and teaches what she learns from them.
